DESCRIPTION

This HQ Holden sedan was brought to us for extensive accident and rust repairs. Although the body looked tidy, you never know until it come back from the sandblaster.

The owner asked us to supply a painted roller ready for engine and interior installation. The vision was to paint the car GMH Chrome Yellow, add GTS badging and stripes and delete some trim.

While the body was at the sandblaster, the subframe had been pressure cleaned and painted satin black. It's come up well, and looks like new, especially with the new bushes and springs. Once the body was back , the floor looked like Swiss cheese and there was evidence of significant accident damage and previous rust repairs.

Roland and Trent started rust repairs by tackling the lower rear-quarter panel and the wheel arch first. The factory welds on the front and rear floor pans were carefully unpicked and cut out. The underside  was seam sealed and texture coated in preparation for putting the body back onto the subframe.

Roland has a talent for fitting panels to ensure the gaps are spot on. The gallery gives you an idea of the amount of time spent shrinking ,filing and panel beating required prior to bodywork.

The owner had trouble sourcing a replacement rear passenger door, so the rusty original had to be repaired and a new outer skin was fabricated. With the absurd price on GTS style guards, reproduction flutes were purchased new and carefully welded in.
