1967 Ford Mustang GTA Restoration

• Full ‘nut and bolt’ factory restoration
• Mustang 2-Door Fastback
• 289-4V V-8 engine
• ‘Dark Moss Green’ paint, Ford #2039-A
• Ivy gold vinyl standard bucket seats
• 3.00 Conventional rear axle
• C-4 Select shift automatic transmission
• Modification: Holley Sniper EFI

This matching-numbers 1967 GTA Mustang arrived in fair condition—remarkably solid for its age, with minimal rust and almost no prior damage.

Body & Exterior

The restoration began with a complete teardown, stripping the car down to every last nut and bolt. It was mounted on a rotisserie and sandblasted, followed by minor rust repairs and panel corrections to ensure structural integrity. The reassembly stayed true to factory specifications, including the application of red oxide primer inside and out. The body was refinished in its original Dark Moss Green colour, with careful attention to replicating Ford's factory overspray technique for authenticity.

Engine & Drivetrain

The engine and transmission have been meticulously rebuilt to enhance reliability while preserving the vehicle’s originality. The factory carburettor has been upgraded to a Holley Sniper EFI system, which has been discreetly integrated to retain an OEM-correct appearance; the original fuel lines and pump remain in place to maintain the stock look. This upgrade was selected to support dependable, regular driving without compromising the vehicle’s heritage. The original carburettor has also been rebuilt and is included, allowing it to be refitted should the owner prefer a fully factory-authentic configuration.

Suspension & Braking

The suspension and drivetrain received a full overhaul, with worn parts replaced as needed. Components were refinished to match factory aesthetics, maintaining an original look. The only notable departure from stock is the upgraded quick-ratio steering box, significantly improving handling and ease of steering without compromising the period-correct feel.

Interior & Trim

Inside, the original trim was in decent condition but heavily stained beyond restoration. While the original carpet was salvaged and refitted, the seats underwent a full retrim, with frames powder-coated for durability. The gauges were rebuilt, and the entire wiring harness was refurbished to meet modern reliability standards. Most of the brightwork was restored, though the rear bumper and door handles are reproduction components, carefully selected to match factory specifications.

Final Touches & Authenticity

Stepping into this Mustang transports you back to 1967, with only subtle refinements to the fuel delivery and steering system—enhancements that elevate the driving experience while preserving the soul of this iconic machine.
